PADDLING IN KANSAS

There are plenty of paddling opportunities in Kansas : Streams and rivers, reservoirs and lakes, and yes, even farm ponds (for the truly heroic adventurer).

We rent canoes and kayaks, see the Flotilla page for details.

The Kansas River is a wonderful water recreation resource, right here in our own backyard.  The Kaw has more than 20 access points between Junction City and Kansas City, with three in the Topeka area alone.

River access maps are available at the Friends of the Kaw website:  www.kansasriver.org

Kaw Valley Canoe Rental  rents canoes and kayaks, complete with life jackets and paddles, with delivery and pickup available.
Special discounts for Scout and Church groups.

For float trip planning purposes, plan for approximately 3 (river) miles per hour.

Plan your float trip by checking the Friends of the Kaw website river access list and map, and calculate roughly how much time you want to spend on the river, then select your entry and take out points.

For example, an enjoyable day float is from Wamego (River Mile 128) to Belvue (River Mile 119) - approximately 9 river miles.

And don't forget to consider the many local lakes and reservoirs for a fun day (or more) on the water. Having canoes or kayaks along doubles the fun on your lake camping trip

Call us to set up your trip, and have fun.
